Questions parents ask
- Is this therapy?
- No. I'm an educator with nearly three decades in schools, not a licensed clinician. I do family strategy, device decisions, crisis navigation, and referrals. If your family needs clinical care, I'll say so and help you find it.
- Do you work with my kid, or with me?
- Whichever the situation calls for. Sometimes it's the parent, sometimes the kid or young adult, and often both. We figure out the right shape on the free call.
- Do you take insurance?
- No. These aren't clinical services, so insurance doesn't apply.
- I'm not in Arizona. Can we still work together?
- Yes. Everything except the in-home technology set-up is done over video, and the set-up works over video with screen sharing too.
- Is what I tell you confidential?
- Mostly, and I'll be straight about the exception. I'm a mandatory reporter. If I learn that a child is being abused, neglected, or is in immediate danger, I'm required to report it, and I will. I'll tell you when that's happening rather than do it behind your back. Outside of that, what you tell me stays with me. I don't share it with your school or anyone else without your say-so. It isn't the legal privilege you'd have with an attorney or a therapist, and I won't pretend it is.
- What if I need more after the session?
- You can add sessions or move up to the package, and I'll credit what you've already paid toward it.
